The Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara, under the direction of Marco Baudinelli, announces the international seminar Towards a Doctoral Curriculum in Artistic Research, curated by Gaetano Malandrino, scheduled for 19–20 March 2026 in a hybrid format. The initiative, developed in collaboration with the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and the Conservatorio "Luca Marenzio" di Brescia, benefits from the scientific coordination of IartNET for the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara by Professor Sassetti, contributing to the development of an advanced framework for reflection on third-cycle education in the fields of art and music.

The seminar brings together directors, professors, and researchers from England, Malta, Romania, Portugal, Spain, and Italy, fostering an international dialogue on definitions, methodologies, and evaluation criteria in artistic research across both visual arts and music. Its primary aim is to outline shared parameters and operational tools to support the development of future doctoral programs in the arts, capable of integrating creative practices, interdisciplinary approaches, and governance models aligned with European standards.

The programme, structured around thematic sessions, workshops, webinars, and round tables, offers a balanced combination of theoretical contributions, institutional experiences, and case studies. Particular attention is devoted to the role of cultural and museum institutions in the evaluation of research, the intersections between art, science, and technology, and the development of international networks capable of supporting innovative doctoral pathways.

The seminar, which took place at the Sala Marmi of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara and at Palazzo Binelli, headquarters of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Carrara, represents a significant step towards the definition of an Italian doctoral model fully integrated within the European context.
