About The Work
The school merit medal, awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Commerce to popular industrial and commercial schools, celebrates commitment and excellence in the field of technical and vocational education.
On the obverse is depicted the left profile of Umberto I (1844–1900), King of Italy, with the circular inscription: "UMBERTO I / RE D'ITALIA"; below, at the center, is engraved the artist’s signature: "SPERANZA."
The reverse bears at the center the dedication:
"AL MERITO SCOLASTICO / SCUOLE INDUSTRIALI / E / COMMERCIALI / POPOLARI,"
while along the edge runs the inscription: "MINISTERO D'AGRICOLTURA INDUSTRIA E COMMERCIO."
