About The Work

The academic course in Italian Art History and Literature aimed to educate students from a theoretical point of view. At the time, this class was in fact the only one that provided such knowledge: it was a course without a practical component, which, on the contrary, distinguished all the other courses then available. It seems that the teacher of Italian Art History and Literature was not given the title of “Docente” (lecturer), as was the case for colleagues teaching practical subjects, but rather that of “Segretario” (secretary), whose task, in addition to teaching the subject, was to perform various other academic duties of a bureaucratic nature.
